Jordanians Celebrate Eid Al Adha

Eid Al Adha is also known as the “Feast of Sacrifice” is one of the two main Islamic celebrating events, its starts after Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mekkah in Saudi Arabia by Muslims worldwide. The Muslims, who can afford it, sacrifice a sheep as a reminder of Abraham’s faith and devotion to God. The meat is mostly distributed a third each to family, friends, and the poor.

In the morning, Muslims start Eid by visiting the Mosques for prayers, dressed in their best attire and thanking God for all the blessing they have received. During, the Eid holiday, friends and family visit each other offering coffee and sweets as a way to celebrate.

It will be very apparent once it is Eid time in Jordan. Everywhere there will be celebrations and festivals. The streets will be very busy; people are mostly either visiting or celebrating out in restaurants or Eid festivals. Dressed in their new clothes for Eid, kids will be full of joy playing with their new toys, eating too much candy, or collecting money from elder family members and friends.
