Jordan’s official currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD) which is divided into 1,000 fils or 100 piastres. Series of coins available are 5 piastres, 10 piasters, 1/4 dinar and 1/2 dinars. The denomination of notes are JD 1, 5, 10, 20, 50.
There are a reasonable numbers of money changing outlet, banks and hotels that can change you foreign currency into JD, it is easy and hassle free. There’s an ATM machine in the airport, numerous around Amman area, Wadi Musa and Aqaba where you can withdraw JD. Credit cards are also widely accepted.
We recommend that you carry enough cash to cover the visa and other necessary expenses.
Banks are closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
